She was born on April 8, 1950 in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Irene Rosalee Holley Joan Elizabeth Strauss, 91, of Maurertown and Edinburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Raleigh, North Carolina surrounded by her family. She served the students of Wise County Schools for 32 years, most recently as a middle school English teacher.
